Tuesday - Friday, 9:30 AM - 6:30 PM
Saturday, Sunday and Holiday, 9:30 AM - 5:30PM

Closed: every Monday, last Friday of the month, New Years holidays (December 29th- January 3rd), during time periods of library cleaning/management

※If the Monday is holiday, the library is closed on Tuesday

Information on Library Usage

Services

First time users

In order to check out books, one needs to own a library card. Library card application is available at the counter. Please provide a proof of residency in Kamogawa (i.e. foreign residence card, driver’s license, etc.)

When checking out

Bring the item(s) and library card to the counter.
Anything with a “Do Not Check-out” label, phone books, city maps, newspapers, folk history materials, videos, etc. must stay within the library.

Check-out Limits:

• You can check out up to 10 items at a time.
• Books, kamishibai, AV materials (CDs) - can be loaned for 2 weeks
• Magazines, oversized picture books, and furusato works - can be loaned for a week

When returning

• Bring the item(s) to the counter. (Library card is not necessary).
• If the library is closed, drop off the item(s) at the following locations:
  •  “Return post” (on the left hand side of the entrance)
  • Community Centers (Chuo, Tojo, Futomi, Emi, Soro, Yoshio, Sugi, Oyama, Amatsu-Kominato)
  • Branch offices (Emi, Yoshio, Kominato)
  • Amatsu-Kominato Branch Office.

Fragile items, such as AV materials, oversized picture books, and materials borrowed through request must be returned to the library counter.

Reserve/Request

It is possible to reserve an item that is checked out. For items not owned by the library, it is possible to request the library to purchase or transfer an item from another library.
If you can't find something, fill out a “Request Card,” located at the counter, and give it to a staff member. Reservations by phone are okay as well.
AV materials can only be checked out through reservation.

Internet Reservation

• You can make reservations for materials at the library using a computer or your cellphone.
• When making reservations online, you will need a "temporary password"
• To get a "temporary password" you will need to get a rental slip from the counter at the library

Reference Service

Please come to the counter for questions about library items or help on finding relevant materials.

Copy Service

Copying is allowed for items owned by the library, as long as it does not violate any copyright laws. Please bring the item(s) to be copied to the counter.
