冬の　寒い　日は、水道の　水が　氷に　なって、出ないことが　あります。

氷に　ならないように　します。

水道管が　外に　あるとき、水道管に　布や　発泡スチロールを　まいて、あたたかくします。

凍結や　漏水に　なったとき

• 凍結〈水が　氷に　なって　出ません。〉
• 漏水〈水が　いつもと　ちがうところから　出ます。〉

に　なったとき、

近くの　会社に　電話します。
近くの　会社が　わからないとき、水道課に　電話してください。（電話　04-7093-1000）

特に　気をつけてください。

• 水道が　家の　外や　風の　強い　ところに　あります。
• 家が　山の　高い　ところや　朝の　太陽の　光が　ないところに　あります。

水道や　給湯器〈熱い　水が　でる　機械〉が　こわれるかもしれません。　なおすとき、　お金が　たくさん　かかります。

アパートや　マンションに　住んでいる人

• 水道の　水が　氷に　なって　出なくなったとき
• 水道が　こわれたとき

住んでいるところを　管理している人に　知らせてください。

Be Careful of Frozen Pipes!

We are starting the coldest part of the year. There is a chance that water in your pipes may freeze and you will not be able to use them.

Take extra care…

…if your pipes are outside and exposed to strong winds and the cold.
…if you live in the mountains or somewhere that has a lot of shade
…because your pipes have a higher chance of freezing and it can be very expensive to fix broken pipes. 

Protect your pipes from freezing!

Water stoppage, pipes bursting, or even hot water heaters failing or having damage all cost a lot of money to fix. 
It is possible for people living closer to sea level to have these problems too.

Steps to Prevent Freezing

• Keep pipes warm
  Wrap a cloth or styrofoam tube (sold in stores) around bare pipes to keep the heat in. Or, try using a heating coil (also sold at stores) to keep them warm.
• Don’t allow freezing to happen
  Drain plugs can be used to take water of the pipes when they aren’t being used.
• Check the weather to know when to prepare for freezing.

You will need to contact a professional when using a drain plug.
